Lectora pricing and Lectora Online pricing per author in 2026
Lectora costs $1,549 a year, sold inside ELB Learning's Studio Gold Suite with Lectora Online, Lectora Desktop, ReviewLink and the Asset Library.
It builds courses. It does not assign or track them.
Courses, onboarding & compliance · one platform · per active learner
Lectora is an authoring tool sold per license inside ELB Learning's Gold Suite, and it needs a separate LMS to deliver and track courses. CompanyLMS is an LMS with authoring built in, priced per active learner, with course builders free. Buy Lectora if your designers build accessible, complex courses for an LMS you already own; choose CompanyLMS when the job is getting required training assigned, completed and proven.

| CompanyLMS Business | HR, ops and compliance leads running onboarding and required training without a designer | Published. $7 per active learner a month, $6 billed annually, 10-learner minimum | Course Studio, role-based paths, certificate expiry, reminders, skills matrix and CSV reports in one price | Not a replacement for complex Lectora simulations |
Pricing reflects each vendor's own pricing or help pages where they exist, and labelled third-party data where they do not. Most vendors quote privately, so treat ranges as planning anchors and confirm with each vendor.
Buying guide
Lectora pricing, explained
What a Lectora license costs, why directory prices are wrong, what the Studio bundles add, and when an LMS with authoring built in is the cheaper purchase.
How much does Lectora cost?
Lectora costs $1,549 a year. ELB Learning no longer sells it as a standalone product: you buy it inside the Studio Gold Suite, which bundles Lectora Online, Lectora Desktop, MicroBuilder, ReviewLink and the Asset Library. That figure is printed on ELB Learning's own Lectora pricing page and on the Gold Suite page, both labeled "starting at".
ELB's Studio pricing page shows the same suite as "starting at $129/mo with an annual subscription paid upfront", which works out to $1,548 a year. It is the same purchase described two ways, so budget it as one up-front annual payment, not a monthly plan you can stop.
Two conditions sit under the price. ELB says the listed prices are for the United States only and international pricing may vary. Federal, state and local government agencies are told to email the public sector team for pricing, and the Lectora FAQ says academic and military discounts are available through sales.
Why the Lectora prices in software directories are out of date
If you have seen Lectora listed at $899, $1,299 or $1,599 a year, you are looking at the old suite lineup. An archived TrustRadius pricing page from May 2025 shows three editions: Silver Suite at $899 a year, Gold Suite at $1,299 and Platinum Suite at $1,599. Today ELB Learning prints one entry price for Lectora, the Gold Suite at $1,549 a year, and sells the larger bundles as Studio plans.
Product names moved too. The Lectora FAQ says Lectora Inspire and Lectora Publisher were combined into one desktop product starting with Lectora version 19, released in 2020. Any directory or quote that still lists Inspire and Publisher as separate line items is describing a product you cannot buy any more.
| Source | What it shows | Status |
|---|---|---|
| ELB Learning Lectora pricing page | Studio Gold Suite from $1,549 a year | Current list price |
| ELB Learning Studio pricing page | Gold Suite from $129 a month, annual paid up front | Current, same purchase |
| TrustRadius, May 2025 archive | Silver $899, Gold $1,299, Platinum $1,599 a year | Old suite lineup |
| Listings for Lectora Inspire or Publisher | Separate desktop editions | Merged into Lectora Desktop in 2020 |
The practical rule: price Lectora from ELB's page or from a written quote, never from a review site.
Lectora Online pricing vs Lectora Desktop
There is no separate Lectora Online price. One Gold Suite subscription gives you unlimited access to both Lectora Online and Lectora Desktop, according to the subscription answer in the Lectora FAQ, along with ReviewLink for reviews and approvals and the Asset Library.
The two versions are not interchangeable in how they run. Lectora Online works in a browser on a Mac or a PC with nothing to install, and ELB says it adds collaborative authoring and an AI Course Wizard. Lectora Desktop runs on Windows 8, 10 and 11 only, with at least 1.6 GB of disk space and 500 MB of free RAM. A Mac-based design team will live in Lectora Online.
The licensing detail that changes a team budget: the FAQ says you must have one desktop license for each computer on which Lectora is installed. Two designers on two laptops means two licenses. ELB routes multiple-license purchases to an account representative, so there is no published per-seat discount.
The Studio, Studio Essentials and Customized Studio pricing
Above the Gold Suite, ELB Learning sells Lectora inside larger bundles called The Studio. These are the starting prices on ELB's own pages, each billed as an annual subscription paid up front:
| Plan | Starting price | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Studio Gold Suite | $1,549 a year, or $129 a month paid yearly | Lectora Online and Desktop, ReviewLink, Asset Library, MicroBuilder, AI Toolkit |
| Customized Studio | $439 a month paid yearly, about $5,268 a year | The apps you pick, with the AI Toolkit included |
| Studio Essentials | $879 a month paid yearly, about $10,548 a year | Gold Suite plus Rehearsal, The Training Arcade and CenarioVR |
| The Studio bundle | $10,547 a year | Nine or more learning apps; ELB asks you to contact sales |
| Premium Support | $2,750 | 15 hours of premium support added to a Studio subscription |
The yearly figures for the monthly plans are our multiplication of ELB's monthly rate by twelve. ELB lists The Studio at $10,547 a year on the Lectora page, a dollar off its $879 monthly figure, which suggests both describe the same Essentials bundle.
Two smaller items can appear on a quote. The Medical Asset Library is an additional subscription on top of the standard asset libraries. Premium Support at $2,750 buys 15 hours of help such as train the trainer, course building and troubleshooting course logic; ELB says standard onboarding and support are included with every subscription.
Does Lectora include an LMS?

No. Lectora is an authoring tool. It builds courses; it does not assign them, track completions or renew certificates. The Lectora FAQ lists the publishing targets: HTML for the web, an AICC, SCORM 1.1, SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004 3rd edition compliant LMS, and a cmi5 or xAPI learning record store. Test results flow to the LMS you publish to.
ELB Learning sells two LMS products of its own, CourseMill and the Rockstar Learning Platform, as separate purchases. The Rockstar pricing page prints no plan price at all; the only dollar figure on it is a $2,500 premium support package. CourseMill goes to a demo request.
This is the line most Lectora budgets leave out. The $1,549 seat is what one author pays to build. The cost of getting 200 people through a required course, with due dates, reminders, certificates and an audit trail, sits in the LMS contract. If you need one, compare per-user models in SCORM compliant LMS options before you sign the authoring renewal.
What Lectora costs for a real US team
The figures below are our arithmetic on published list prices, not quotes. Lectora is $1,549 per license a year plus an LMS that ELB does not price publicly. Articulate 360 AI Teams is $1,749 per author a year and includes Reach for 300 active learners, counted once per learner in each 30-day period, with Reach 360 Pro from $3,600 for 1,200. CompanyLMS bills per active learner in the month they train and charges nothing for course builders.
| Scenario | Lectora Gold Suite | Articulate 360 AI Teams | CompanyLMS |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 author, 50 staff training every month | $1,549 plus an LMS quote | $5,349 ($1,749 plus Reach 360 Pro) | $1,800 on Team or $3,600 on Business, billed annually |
| 1 author, 200 staff taking one annual compliance course | $1,549 plus an LMS quote | $1,749 (200 learner credits fit the 300 in Reach) | About $1,400 on Business at $7 in the one month they train |
| 2 authors, 100 staff training every month | $3,098 plus an LMS quote | $7,098 ($3,498 plus Reach 360 Pro) | $3,600 on Team or $7,200 on Business, billed annually |
| Add premium onboarding help | $2,750 Premium Support | Not separately priced | Included |
The honest reading: Lectora is priced close to Articulate per author, and it is only cheaper overall if you already own an LMS. If your company runs Cornerstone, Docebo or another LMS already, the $1,549 seat is the whole incremental cost, and Lectora's accessibility tooling is a real reason to pick it. If you are buying the LMS as well, the LMS line will usually be larger than the authoring line, and a platform that bills per active learner with authoring included tends to come out ahead for training that happens a few times a year.
Lectora vs Articulate 360 vs Adobe Captivate pricing
Per author, Lectora sits between Adobe Captivate at the low end and Articulate 360 at the high end. Annual prices, each read from the vendor's own pricing pages:
| Authoring tool | Price per author | Billing | LMS included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lectora (Studio Gold Suite) | $1,549 a year | Annual, paid up front | No; CourseMill and Rockstar are separate |
| Articulate 360 AI Teams | $1,749 a year | Annual, paid up front | Reach, 300 active learners a year |
| Easygenerator Pro | $1,399 a year | Annual | No |
| Adobe Captivate | $479.88 a year ($39.99 a month) | Annual commitment, billed monthly | No; Adobe Learning Manager is separate |
The differences that matter more than the sticker price: Lectora Desktop is Windows only, while Captivate runs on Windows and macOS and Articulate Storyline is Windows only with Rise in the browser. Lectora is the one that puts accessibility checking for Section 508 and WCAG inside the tool, which matters for US federal contractors and public sector teams. See the full breakdowns in Articulate 360 pricing, Adobe Captivate pricing and Easygenerator pricing.
Is Lectora worth the price?
For an instructional design team that builds accessible, branching courses and already has an LMS, yes. ELB Learning positions Lectora on three things it does well: built-in accessibility checks against Section 508 and WCAG, Responsive Course Design that lets you adjust layouts for each device and orientation, and custom HTML, JavaScript and CSS when a course needs it. The Gold Suite also bundles an asset library ELB describes as over 160 million stock assets, which would cost money on its own.
It is a weaker buy in three cases. If nobody on the team is a trained course designer, a full authoring tool sits unused. If your designers work on Macs, Lectora Desktop is not an option and you depend on the online version. And if what you actually need is people assigned, reminded and certified on required training, the authoring seat solves the smallest part of the problem.
Is there a cheaper alternative to Lectora for company training?
If the job is getting required training assigned, completed and proven, an LMS with authoring built in is usually cheaper than an authoring seat plus a separate LMS. CompanyLMS drafts a course from the policy, SOP or handbook you already have, adds a quiz with a pass mark and a certificate, and assigns it by team or role. Course builders are not billed. See how that works on the course authoring tool page.
Keep Lectora if your designers rely on it for complex, accessible simulations, and run the routine courses next to them. For a per-employee view of what required training costs across vendors, read compliance training software pricing.
