TriNet LMS alternatives and what each one charges
Seven options a US company on TriNet weighs. Six print a figure you can read today: CompanyLMS, TriNet Premium Content, 360Learning Team, TalentLMS, ProProfs Training Maker and Coggno. EasyLlama is listed for its compliance library. TriNet, 360Learning and TalentLMS were read on 15 October 2026; ProProfs and Coggno on 14 October 2026; EasyLlama between 8 and 12 October 2026.

No implementation fee | Course authoring, role-based paths, certificates with automatic renewal reminders and a per-employee audit trail, billed only for active learners | No TriNet connector. Premium Content $72 per employee a year, whole company, card only | 50+ compliance courses at no extra line item, upload and authoring, roles assigned from TriNet HR permissions | Access, Premium months and employee course records end if you leave the TriNet PEO. Core $1,428 a year for 1 to 40 users, $1,908 for 41 to 70, $2,628 for 71 to 100, billed yearly | Cheapest published line here at 100 users, with SCORM, xAPI and cmi5 on all plans | Bands count unique monthly log-ins, Core stops at 100 users, and no TriNet connector is listed |

| Coggno | Companies that mostly want a large ready-made course catalog at a flat rate | Published. Prime $5 per user a month billed annually, 10 user minimum. Courses also sold one at a time from $9.95 | HRIS sync, SSO and API included on Prime with no setup fee | Confirm TriNet is among its HRIS syncs before relying on it |
| EasyLlama | Companies leaving TriNet that still want a full compliance course library | Published. $24.95 per course per learner a year, or $59.95 Core and $89.95 Ultimate per user a year, 10 minimum | 500+ legally vetted courses including state harassment training | A compliance library first; your own onboarding content is secondary |
Pricing reflects each vendor's own pricing or help pages where they exist, and labelled third-party data where they do not. Most vendors quote privately, so treat ranges as planning anchors and confirm with each vendor.
Buying guide
TriNet Learn, read from TriNet pages
These facts come from the TriNet learning management product pages for PEO and HR Plus, the TriNet Learn customer resource center page and the TriNet Premium Content FAQ (revised May 2025), all read on 15 October 2026.
Does TriNet have an LMS?
Yes. TriNet gives clients a learning platform called TriNet Learn powered by 360Learning. TriNet describes it as offering "complimentary HR compliance training courses, access to purchase premium learning content in the marketplace, and the ability for TriNet clients to upload their own training content." Employees reach it from the TriNet portal under Performance and Learning, then Training Resources.
The product page lists four things: an "enhanced HR compliance catalog" of "complimentary 50+ HR compliance courses"; "support for employer content upload, AI-powered content creation, learning paths, personalized dashboards"; collaborative learning, where employees author and share courses; and a Premium Content marketplace of "over 1000 courses" bought by self-checkout. The same Learning Management page appears under TriNet PEO and under TriNet HR Plus.
Roles come from TriNet permissions. Worksite employees become Learners automatically. Client administrators and Trusted Advisors with HR Security, HR Administrator or HR Authorizer roles become Coach & Author, which lets them manage users, assign courses, set deadlines and upload content.
How much does TriNet Learn cost?
For a TriNet PEO client the base platform and the compliance catalog carry no separate line item: TriNet calls the compliance courses complimentary. The cost shows up when you want more than compliance. TriNet's Premium Content FAQ states it plainly: "Premium Content costs $72 per worksite employee/Trusted Advisor per year."
Three rules come with that price. It is bought "for all company worksite employees and Trusted Advisors" and "cannot be purchased on an individual or sub-group basis". It is "a separate eCommerce purchase that you pay for directly within the application with a credit card", outside your TriNet contract. And the headcount is fixed at purchase, so new hires during the year cost nothing extra.
Here is that figure next to published rates from vendors that print one. Remember the TriNet column is on top of what you already pay TriNet, and buys a course library, not the platform.
| Employees | TriNet Premium Content ($72 a year) | CompanyLMS Team ($3 a month, billed annually) | CompanyLMS Business ($6 a month, billed annually) | 360Learning Team ($8 a month) | TalentLMS Core, billed yearly | ProProfs Business Complete Elite ($59.76 a year) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 25 | $1,800 a year | $900 a year | $1,800 a year | $2,400 a year | $1,428 a year | $1,494 a year |
| 50 | $3,600 a year | $1,800 a year | $3,600 a year | $4,800 a year | $1,908 a year | $2,988 a year |
| 100 | $7,200 a year | $3,600 a year | $7,200 a year | $9,600 a year | $2,628 a year | $5,976 a year |
CompanyLMS figures assume every learner is active every month; an idle learner is not billed at all. TalentLMS bands count unique monthly log-ins, and at 50 to 100 users it is the cheapest line in the table. ProProfs is shown on its top tier because that is where HRIS sync and SSO sit. TriNet's older learning management page also notes that "these products and services may be an additional cost" and that a TriNet representative will provide pricing, so if you are on HR Plus or the HR Platform rather than the PEO, ask what the platform itself costs you.
What happens to your training records if you leave TriNet?
This is the question most buyers never ask, and TriNet answers it in writing. Companies often leave a PEO as they grow and bring payroll and benefits in-house, or switch PEO at renewal. When that happens, the training history goes with the PEO contract, not with you.
| What the TriNet FAQ says | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| "If you are no longer a TriNet PEO client, you will no longer have access to 360Learning and its contents, including Premium Content." | The LMS goes when the PEO contract goes, including any courses your managers built in it |
| "You will forfeit any months remaining on your subscription." | Leaving in month four of a Premium year writes off eight months already paid |
| "You will no longer have access to your worksite employee course information." | Completion dates, scores and certificates are not carried over. Export them first |
| "Refunds will not be provided to clients except in the event of a duplicate purchase issue", requested within 24 hours | Treat Premium Content as a sunk annual cost the day you buy it |
| "You will need to re-purchase Premium Content to renew your subscription." | No auto-renewal, so nothing renews by surprise, and nothing renews if nobody remembers |
For most companies that is an inconvenience. For any company that has to prove training to an outside party, it is a real risk: state harassment training records, OSHA certifications, food safety cards, client-mandated security training. If you stay on TriNet Learn, put a calendar reminder to export completions every quarter. If you would rather the record lived somewhere permanent, keep it in a system you own and let TriNet carry the compliance courses. Our certification tracking software page compares the options built for that job.
TriNet harassment training and the compliance catalog
TriNet's strongest point is the one most buyers come for. The included courses cover Anti-Harassment Training (formerly "Respect in the Workplace"), Anti-Discrimination, Harassment Prevention and a Chicago-specific Bystander course, and TriNet says the Anti-Discrimination and Harassment Prevention courses are "compliant with all 50 U.S. states", so employees no longer pick a state at the start. TriNet adds "52 additional complimentary HR compliance training courses" on the home page.
If you are a TriNet PEO client and harassment prevention is your main training obligation, you already have it. Keep it. The alternatives below make sense for the other half of company training. Everything below is from TriNet's pages as they stood on 15 October 2026; the right-hand column is what the page leaves open.
| What TriNet states | What to confirm before you rely on it |
|---|---|
| "Complimentary 50+ HR compliance courses" | Which of them your state requires, and whether managers and non-managers get different versions |
| Anti-Discrimination and Harassment Prevention "compliant with all 50 U.S. states" | How refresher dates are set and reminded each year |
| "Support for employer content upload, AI-powered content creation, learning paths" | Which file types upload, and whether SCORM packages report completions |
| Video tutorials for "Adding & Customizing Certificates" and "Create a SCORM Course" | Whether a certificate can carry an expiry date and trigger a renewal |
| Coach & Author role auto-assigned to HR Security, HR Administrator and HR Authorizer | Whether a line manager outside HR can author and assign without an HR role |
| Older TriNet pages still describe "500+ courses" | Which catalog your plan actually has today: the 50+ compliance set, or Premium Content |
Note the course counts do not agree across TriNet's own pages: "50+" on the product page, "52 additional" plus the harassment set on the resource center, "55 online HR compliance training courses" a paragraph later, and "more than 500 courses" on an older learning management page that dates back to the 2014 launch of TriNet Learn. Ask which catalog your account has today.
TriNet training for employees on your own procedures

TriNet handles the employer side of a hire well: payroll, benefits, workers' comp, and the federal and state harassment courses. Neither the compliance catalog nor a 1,000 course Premium bundle covers what a new hire most needs in week one, which is how your company does the job. The client onboarding call, the warehouse receiving steps, the expense policy, the software your team actually uses.
TriNet Learn can do some of this through 360Learning authoring, if someone with an HR role builds it and you accept that it stays behind if you leave. In CompanyLMS a manager builds that course in minutes from a template, a video or a PDF, adds a quiz with a pass mark, groups courses into an onboarding path for a role and assigns it on day one. Mark a course as a certification, set how long it lasts, and each person gets a reminder before it lapses. Completions, scores and expiry dates sit on one record per employee and export to CSV for an inspector, an insurer or a customer audit.
Billing counts only learners who were active that month, at $4 on Team or $7 on Business, with lower rates on annual billing. You can build a first course in the course studio at the top of this page before you talk to anyone.
TriNet LMS alternatives by situation
Stay with TriNet Learn if your training is mainly state harassment and HR compliance courses, you plan to stay on the TriNet PEO, and you export completions on a schedule.
Buy Premium Content if you want a broad soft-skills and leadership library for everyone and $72 per employee a year fits. Budget it as non-refundable and remember it ends with the PEO.
Pick 360Learning directly if you like the TriNet Learn experience and want the same engine on a contract you keep, at $8 a user a month up to 100 users.
Pick TalentLMS if you want the lowest published bill at 50 to 100 users and can live inside a fixed user band.
Add CompanyLMS if the job is onboarding on your own material and certifications with expiry dates, and you want records that stay put if you ever leave the PEO. It runs next to TriNet through a CSV import, with nothing to install on the TriNet side. For other payroll systems see ADP LMS alternatives, isolved LMS alternatives and Rippling LMS alternatives, and for the 360Learning side see 360Learning pricing.
Why teams pick CompanyLMS
One platform for courses, onboarding, compliance and certifications
Records that outlive your PEO
Companies leave PEOs as they grow. TriNet states that course records end when you do. In CompanyLMS completions, scores and expiry dates stay in your workspace and export to CSV at any time.
Built for your own procedures
A compliance catalog does not contain your opening checklist or your client intake script. Every paid CompanyLMS plan builds a course from a template, video or PDF in minutes, with quizzes built in.
Certifications with expiry dates
Mark any course as a certification, set how long it lasts, and CompanyLMS reminds each person before it lapses and keeps a per-employee audit trail you can export as CSV.
