The shortlist
Every TalentLMS plan and what it really covers
Re-read first-hand on 31 August 2026, when the rates were unchanged. Note that talentlms.com/pricing now returns a 301 redirect to talentlms.com/prices, so an old bookmark still works but the URL has moved. Prices are the yearly-billed rate at the entry user band of each plan, in USD, with no setup fee.
| Platform | Best for | Pricing model | What stands out | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | Evaluating the authoring experience before you spend anything | $0, up to 5 users and 10 courses, no time limit | No credit card, no expiry date, and it includes support | Five users is a pilot. You cannot run a department on it |
| Core | A first real rollout under 100 people | $119 a month billed yearly at 1 to 40 users, plan ceiling 100 users | SSO, custom domain with SSL, API, LTI 1.3 and custom reports all start here | One branch only, and TalentCraft AI credits are a one-time 5,000 |
| Grow | Teams that need two or three separate training portals | $229 a month billed yearly at 1 to 70 users, plan ceiling 500 users | 3 branches, 10,000 AI credits a month, two weeks of guided onboarding | Learning paths are capped at 5 on this plan |
| Pro | Multi-department, partner or customer training under 1,000 users | $449 a month billed yearly at 1 to 100 users, then $6 per additional user | 15 branches, unlimited learning paths, a named account manager, 15,000 AI credits a month | The overage above 100 users is what decides the real bill |
| Enterprise | Large workforces that need unlimited portals and a negotiated term | Quote only. Starts at 1,000 users, or 500 on the flexible annual plan | Unlimited branches and an annual contract you can shape | You leave the published rate card behind at this point |
| TalentLibrary add-on | Teams with no course content of their own | Priced separately on top of any paid plan | Over 1,000 ready-made courses written by subject-matter experts | It is a separate line item, not part of the plan price |
| Compliance content bundles | US HR teams buying harassment and compliance training with the LMS | Quoted separately. EasyLlama bundle and OpenSesame are both add-ons | OpenSesame lists over 50,000 industry-specific courses | Content licensing commonly adds 20 to 40 percent to the contract |
| CompanyLMS | Onboarding, compliance and certification renewals for 25 to 1,000 people | Flat per seat, published, no active-user metering and no bands | Expiry tracking, automatic re-assignment and dated audit exports included | Not built for 10,000-seat extended enterprise governance |
Pricing reflects publicly reported figures and third-party marketplace data as of September 2026. Most vendors quote privately, so treat ranges as planning anchors and confirm with each vendor.
Buying guide
What the rate card does not tell you
TalentLMS is one of the few LMS vendors that publishes everything. The traps are not hidden, they are just easy to read past.
Band pricing means 41 users costs the same as 70
TalentLMS does not charge per seat. It charges per band. Core is $119 a month at 1 to 40 users and steps up at 41 to 70, then again at 71 to 100. Grow and Pro work the same way with their own bands. The practical effect is that a company with 41 employees pays exactly what a company with 70 pays.
So before you compare TalentLMS against a per-seat vendor, find out where your headcount sits inside its band. Near the top, TalentLMS is excellent value. One person over the bottom of a band, you are funding 29 seats that do not exist. And check where you will sit after next year hiring plan, because a band step is a step change in the invoice rather than a gradual rise.
Active users, not registered users
TalentLMS states the rule plainly on its own pricing page: pricing is based on the monthly number of users who log in to your portal. Dormant accounts do not count. That is genuinely generous compared with vendors that bill on every account ever created, and it suits companies with seasonal or shift-based workforces.
The flip side is that your billing band moves with behaviour rather than headcount. The month everyone completes their annual compliance module is the month everyone logs in, which is exactly when you can cross a band. If your compliance cycle lands in one quarter, model that month rather than your average one. We pulled the whole metering question apart in LMS cost per user: active versus registered.
SCORM 1.2 and xAPI, but not SCORM 2004
This is the one technical constraint that catches buyers late. TalentLMS supports SCORM 1.2, xAPI and cmi5, but not SCORM 2004. For most teams that is irrelevant, because 1.2 is still the workhorse format and almost every content vendor ships it.
It matters if a content library you have already licensed publishes 2004 packages, or if you rely on SCORM 2004 sequencing. There is also a practical difference in resume behaviour: SCORM 1.2 caps suspend data at 4,096 characters against roughly 64,000 in SCORM 2004, which is the usual reason a long course forgets where a learner stopped. Our SCORM compliant LMS comparison covers which platforms support which versions.
What you get on Core that most vendors gate higher
Credit where it is due. Single sign-on with SAML 2.0, LDAP and OpenID Connect, a custom domain with SSL, full API access, custom reports and LTI 1.3 all ship on Core, the cheapest paid plan. Plenty of competitors put SSO two tiers up, and SAP Litmos gates SSO, custom domain, custom roles and webhooks above its entry tier.
What Core does not give you is branches. You get one. If you need separate branded environments for different departments, partners or customers, that is what pushes you to Grow and then Pro, and the jump is structural rather than about headcount. If portals are your actual requirement, read LearnUpon vs TalentLMS, because that is the comparison where portals decide the answer.
TalentCraft AI credits, and the word "one time" on Core
TalentLMS is the only LMS vendor we have found that publishes how much AI each plan includes. Every other platform either says nothing, says "usage-based credits" without a number, or gates AI to a tier it will not price. That makes this table genuinely rare, and it is worth reading closely because the cheapest plan is metered differently from all the others.
| Plan | Yearly-billed rate | TalentCraft AI credits | Resets? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core | $95.20 a month, up to 40 users | 5,000 | No. One time only |
| Grow | $183.20 a month, up to 70 users | 10,000 | Every month |
| Pro | $359.20 a month, up to 100 users | 15,000 | Every month |
| ProFlex | Quoted | 25,000 | Every month |
| Enterprise | Quoted, from 1,000 users | 80,000 | Every month |
The 5,000 credits on Core do not refill. They are an allowance for the life of the plan, not a monthly budget, which means a team that drafts continuously will exhaust them and then be authoring manually on a paid plan. If AI authoring is a working habit rather than an experiment, the real entry point is Grow at $183.20 a month billed yearly, where 10,000 credits recur.
Credits cover more than text. AI content assistance, AI images and videos, AI thumbnails, video captions, test creation, course translation and the AI Coach all draw on the same pool, so a single course with images and two translations consumes far more than a plain draft. Ask TalentLMS what a representative course costs in credits before you size the plan, because that exchange rate is not published.
For how the rest of the category bills AI, including the four different shapes vendors use, see the AI powered LMS comparison.
The line items that sit outside the plan price
TalentLMS charges no setup fee, which is unusual and worth real money: Trainual publishes a $1,000 one-time implementation fee, and third-party reports put SAP Litmos implementation in the $8,000 to $25,000 range. Budget zero for TalentLMS setup and you will be right.
Content is the line item that does move. TalentLibrary, the OpenSesame catalogue and the EasyLlama compliance bundle are all priced separately from the plan. If you are buying an LMS mainly to deliver harassment and compliance training, compare the all-in number rather than the platform number, because a dedicated compliance vendor like EasyLlama at $59.95 per user per year or Traliant Complete at $30.95 per learner per year already includes the courses. The full cost model is on our compliance training software pricing page.
When to look past TalentLMS
TalentLMS is a genuinely good buy for a team under 100 people that wants to publish courses this week on a price it can read. Companies outgrow it for one of three reasons: they need more portals than their plan allows, they cross into Pro overage or Enterprise quotes, or the job stops being course delivery and becomes proving that certifications have not lapsed.
That third one is where CompanyLMS fits. Expiry dates, renewal reminders, automatic re-assignment of the training that fixes a lapse, and a dated per-person export are the core of the product rather than reporting you configure afterwards. If you are shortlisting more broadly, TalentLMS alternatives compares nine platforms, and certification tracking software covers the renewal side specifically.
Why teams pick CompanyLMS
One platform for courses, onboarding, compliance and certifications
What each TalentLMS plan costs
Billed yearly, Core is $119 a month for 1 to 40 users ($1,428 a year) and includes SSO, a custom domain and API access. Grow is $229 for up to 70 users and adds custom reports, analytics and five learning paths. Pro is $449 for up to 100 users plus $6 per additional user, and unlocks automations and unlimited learning paths. Enterprise starts at 1,000 users. Monthly billing costs 20% more.
Where the tiers bite
TalentLMS caps users per plan, so growth pushes you up a tier rather than simply adding seats at the same rate. Features like SSO and automation also sit behind the higher plans, so the real cost depends on which capabilities you need, not just headcount.
Is the free plan enough?
The free plan (5 users, 10 courses, no expiry) is genuinely useful for a pilot or a tiny team. It runs out quickly for company-wide onboarding or compliance, where you need more users, recurring assignments and audit records, which start on the paid tiers.
