Compare · Restaurant LMS vendors
Best LMS for restaurants and restaurant training software cost
The best LMS for a restaurant is the one your hourly staff finish on a phone, that assigns training by station on the hire date, and that tells you which food handler and alcohol certificates expire next month.
Most vendors in this category quote a price. CompanyLMS publishes $7 per learner seat a month ($6 billed annually), and a seat can be reassigned to the next hire when someone leaves.
Courses, onboarding & compliance · one platform · per active learner
Restaurant LMS vendors mostly quote, per location or per registered user. CompanyLMS publishes a per learner seat price, treats each location as a team, and tracks station onboarding, required training and certificate expiry in one plan. Choose it for training and renewals across locations; choose an operations platform if you also need checklists and temperature logs.

The shortlist
Restaurant LMS vendors and how each one prices
Two of the six publish a rate. Schoox, Axonify, Trainual and Docebo figures come from their own pricing pages and FAQs; TalentLMS from its pricing page; CompanyLMS is our own product.
| Platform | Best for | Published price | What stands out | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Schoox | Large restaurant groups that want native branded apps | Quote only. Priced on learner count, internal or external learners and how often they access the platform | All platform functionality standard, org structure across locations, 32 learner languages, native iOS and Android apps at no extra cost, 24/7 in-house support | Course Marketplace content is licensed separately |
| Axonify | Large hospitality and retail frontlines | Quote only. Three packages, Core, Pro and Premium | Daily microlearning and reinforcement built for hourly staff | Manager coaching tools start at Pro; enterprise layer at Premium |
| Trainual | Restaurant teams that run on written SOPs, 25 to 1,000 employees | Quote only. $1,000 one-time implementation fee, marked required on every plan | Fast documentation of processes and roles, HR and payroll syncs with Gusto and BambooHR | No SCORM upload on Core; SSO from Premium |
| TalentLMS | Steady rosters of 40 to 500 people that fit inside a user band | Published. Core from $119 a month billed yearly for up to 40 users; Grow to 500 users; Pro to 1,000 | Lowest published sticker price at steady headcount | Crossing a band moves the whole plan; confirm how deactivated users count |
| Docebo | Large restaurant groups with 250 or more learners and an L&D team | Quote only. Monthly, yearly or registered active users, one-year minimum | Deep enterprise features, integrations and content marketplace | Many paid add-ons; yearly active users behave like headcount if everyone takes one annual course |
| CompanyLMS Business | Independent and multi-unit restaurant operators running onboarding, required training and certificate renewals by location | Published. $7 per learner seat a month, $6 billed annually, 10-learner minimum | Locations as teams, role paths by station, certificate expiry with reminders, compliance board and CSV export in one price | Training only; no checklists, temperature logs or POS integration |
Pricing reflects each vendor's own pricing or help pages where they exist, and labelled third-party data where they do not. Most vendors quote privately, so treat ranges as planning anchors and confirm with each vendor.
Buying guide
Restaurant LMS pricing and buying guide
What restaurant training software costs, how turnover changes the bill, which certificates to track, and how to pick for your size.
How much does restaurant training software cost?
Restaurant training software ranges from a published $119 a month for up to 40 users on TalentLMS to custom quotes for Schoox, Axonify, Trainual and Docebo, and CompanyLMS Business is $7 per learner seat a month or $6 billed annually. Only two of the six vendors compared here print a rate, so most operators learn the number on a sales call.
Here is our arithmetic on CompanyLMS published rates for three typical restaurant sizes. The other vendors quote, so no figure is invented for them.
| Restaurant | Learner seats | Business monthly at $7 | Business annual at $6 |
|---|---|---|---|
| One independent restaurant, 25 staff | 25 | $2,100 a year ($175 a month) | $1,800 a year |
| Three-location group, 90 staff | 90 | $7,560 a year ($630 a month) | $6,480 a year |
| Ten-unit regional chain, 400 staff | 400 | $33,600 a year ($2,800 a month) | $28,800 a year |
The honest reading: if your roster is steady and fits a TalentLMS band, that band is likely the lowest sticker price, and we say so on our TalentLMS pricing page. Seat-based pricing with reassignable seats earns its keep when turnover is high and you want certificate expiry tracked in the same price.
What should a restaurant LMS do?
A restaurant LMS has to get a new hire trained for a station in the first week, prove it, and warn you before a required certificate lapses. That comes down to five jobs:
- Station paths. Server, line cook, bartender, host and shift lead each get their own sequence, assigned by role and start date.
- Locations as groups. Each restaurant is a team, so a menu change can go to one location or all of them in one step.
- Certificates with expiry. Food handler cards, food protection manager certificates and alcohol server permits renew on intervals that depend on your state and county. The system should hold the renewal date and remind people ahead of it.
- Proof of completion. Completion dates and quiz scores per person, exportable for a health inspection or an insurer.
- Phones, not desks. Hourly staff train between tasks, so courses must work on a phone.
CompanyLMS covers these on the Business plan with role-based onboarding paths and certificate expiry with reminders. Rules for cards and permits vary by state, so confirm the interval with your local health department.
How does restaurant turnover change what you pay?
High hourly turnover is the biggest hidden cost in restaurant training, because a single position can create several accounts in a year. On registered-user pricing each account counts until someone removes it, and in a multi-location group nobody owns that cleanup.
Ask three questions before you sign:
- Does a deactivated user still count toward the plan limit or the invoice?
- Is the count a point-in-time number, a monthly peak, or everyone active at any point in the year?
- If you cross a band mid-contract, is overage billed at the contract rate, or does the whole plan move up a tier?
CompanyLMS bills the learner seats you buy for the period, and each seat can be reassigned to another person. For the full mechanics across vendors see LMS cost per user, active vs registered.
Which LMS fits which kind of restaurant?
Pick by the shape of your business, because every vendor here can host a course and issue a certificate.
- Large groups with an L&D team and a need for native branded apps: Schoox or Axonify. Both are built for frontline networks and both quote.
- Restaurants that live in written SOPs: Trainual, with a required $1,000 implementation fee and quotes by team size.
- Lowest published sticker for a steady roster: TalentLMS user bands.
- Onboarding by station and certificate renewals at a published per-person price: CompanyLMS Business.
If you run franchised units, the franchise LMS page covers per-location pricing and who pays for the platform. For a bigger enterprise suite, see Docebo pricing.
Is CompanyLMS a good LMS for restaurants?
For a US restaurant operator who needs station onboarding, required training and certificate renewals tracked by location, yes, and you can see the price before you talk to anyone. Each location is a team, each station has a path, and the compliance board shows who is behind.
Where it is not the right pick: if you need checklists, temperature logs, a POS integration or a native branded app, look at an operations platform or Schoox first. If the job is getting every new hire trained to your standard in week one and keeping food handler and alcohol certificates current, start with the Course Studio above and build your first path from your manual.
Why teams pick CompanyLMS
One platform for courses, onboarding, compliance and certifications
Built once from your manual
Turn your line, bar and host procedures into a path per station, then assign it on the hire date instead of printing binders.
Phone-first for hourly crews
Courses run on any phone, so a dishwasher can finish a module in the back hallway before a shift.
Renewals that do not slip
Food handler and alcohol server certificates carry a renewal interval, and each record moves from current to due to overdue on its own.
Seats follow headcount
You buy learner seats and reassign one when someone leaves, so turnover does not leave you paying for dead accounts.
