Compare · Retail LMS vendors
Mobile LMS software for retail employees and store training
The right mobile LMS for a retail chain is the one store associates finish on their own phone in ten-minute gaps, that assigns training by role on the hire date, and that shows each store manager who is behind before the weekend rush.
Most vendors in this category quote a price. CompanyLMS publishes $7 per learner seat a month ($6 billed annually), and a seat can be reassigned to the next hire when someone leaves.
Courses, onboarding & compliance · one platform · per active learner
Retail LMS vendors mostly quote, by learner count or by tier. CompanyLMS publishes a per learner seat price, treats each store as a team, and runs role onboarding, required training and certificate expiry in one plan. Choose it for training and compliance across stores; choose a microlearning specialist if daily knowledge reinforcement is the whole job.

Retail LMS vendors vs CompanyLMS, honestly
A fair look at what each does well. Both are capable tools. Here is where they differ.
| What matters | CompanyLMS | Retail LMS vendors |
|---|---|---|
| How you pay | $7 per learner seat a month on Business, $6 billed annually, 10-learner minimum | Mostly quoted by learner count or tier; TalentLMS publishes user bands |
| Seasonal and high-turnover staff | The seat is reassigned to the next hire | Often counted until an admin deactivates the account |
| Phone-first learning | Courses run in a mobile browser, no app install for staff | Schoox and Axonify offer native apps; others use a mobile browser |
| Store groups and managers | Each store is a team with its own completion view | Available on most platforms, sometimes a higher tier |
| Daily microlearning | Short lessons and quizzes, not an adaptive daily engine | Axonify is built around daily reinforcement |
| Implementation | Self-serve, workspace opens after checkout | Enterprise vendors include onboarding in the quote |

The shortlist
Retail LMS vendors and how each one prices
Two of the five publish a rate. Schoox, Axonify and Docebo figures come from their own pricing pages and FAQs; TalentLMS from its pricing page; CompanyLMS is our own product.
| Platform | Best for | Published price | What stands out | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Schoox | Large retail groups that want native branded apps | Quote only. Priced on learner count, internal or external learners and how often they access the platform | All platform functionality standard, org structure across locations, 32 learner languages, native iOS and Android apps at no extra cost, 24/7 in-house support | Course Marketplace content is licensed separately |
| Axonify | Large hospitality and retail frontlines | Quote only. Three packages, Core, Pro and Premium | Daily microlearning and reinforcement built for hourly staff | Manager coaching tools start at Pro; enterprise layer at Premium |
| TalentLMS | Steady rosters of 40 to 500 people that fit inside a user band | Published. Core from $119 a month billed yearly for up to 40 users; Grow to 500 users; Pro to 1,000 | Lowest published sticker price at steady headcount | Crossing a band moves the whole plan; confirm how deactivated users count |
| Docebo | Large retail groups with 250 or more learners and an L&D team | Quote only. Monthly, yearly or registered active users, one-year minimum | Deep enterprise features, integrations and content marketplace | Many paid add-ons; yearly active users behave like headcount if everyone takes one annual course |
| CompanyLMS Business | Independent and multi-store retailers running onboarding, required training and certificate renewals by store | Published. $7 per learner seat a month, $6 billed annually, 10-learner minimum | Stores as teams, role paths, certificate expiry with reminders, compliance board and CSV export in one price | No native app and no adaptive daily microlearning engine; no POS or scheduling integration |
Pricing reflects each vendor's own pricing or help pages where they exist, and labelled third-party data where they do not. Most vendors quote privately, so treat ranges as planning anchors and confirm with each vendor.
Buying guide
Retail LMS pricing and buying guide
What mobile training software costs for store teams, how seasonal hiring changes the bill, and how to pick for your size.
How much does retail employee training software cost?
Retail training software ranges from a published $119 a month for up to 40 users on TalentLMS to custom quotes for Schoox, Axonify and Docebo, and CompanyLMS Business is $7 per learner seat a month or $6 billed annually. Only two of the five vendors compared here print a rate, so most retailers learn the number on a sales call.
Here is our arithmetic on CompanyLMS published rates, billed annually at $6 a seat a month. The other vendors quote, so no figure is invented for them.
| Learner seats | Per month | Per year |
|---|---|---|
| 40 (one or two stores) | $240 | $2,880 |
| 150 (a regional chain) | $900 | $10,800 |
| 400 (a multi-region retailer) | $2,400 | $28,800 |
Paid monthly the same seats are $7, so 40 seats are $280 a month.
What should a mobile LMS do for a retail store?
A retail LMS has to get a new associate selling safely in the first week, prove it, and show the store manager who is behind. That comes down to five jobs:
- Role paths. Cashier, stockroom, department lead and keyholder each get their own sequence, assigned by role and start date.
- Stores as groups. Each store is a team, so a new return policy or product launch can go to one store or all of them in one step.
- Phone delivery. Most associates do not sit at a desk, so modules need to work on a phone in short sittings.
- Required training and certificates. Loss prevention, safety and any state or product certifications carry a renewal interval so records move from current to due to overdue.
- Reporting. A completion view per store and a CSV export for HR and audits.
Anything beyond that, such as shift scheduling or task lists, belongs in a workforce tool.
How does seasonal hiring change what you pay?
Seasonal hiring is the biggest hidden cost in retail training, because a holiday ramp can create dozens of accounts that nobody removes in January. On registered-user pricing each account counts until an admin deactivates it, and across many stores nobody owns that cleanup.
Ask three questions before you sign:
- Does a deactivated user still count toward the plan limit or the invoice?
- Is the count a point-in-time number, a monthly peak, or everyone active at any point in the year?
- If you cross a band mid-contract, is overage billed at the contract rate, or does the whole plan move up a tier?
CompanyLMS bills purchased seats, and a seat can be reassigned to the next hire, so you size seats to the people you actually need trained.
Which LMS fits which kind of retailer?
Pick by the shape of your business, because every vendor here can host a course and issue a certificate.
- Large chains with an L&D team and a need for native branded apps: Schoox or Axonify. Both are built for frontline networks and both quote.
- Daily knowledge reinforcement as the main goal: Axonify.
- Lowest published sticker for a steady roster: TalentLMS user bands.
- Onboarding by role and required training by store at a published per-person price: CompanyLMS Business.
Is CompanyLMS a good LMS for retail employees?
For a US retailer who needs role onboarding, required training and certificate renewals tracked by store, yes, and you can see the price before you talk to anyone. Each store is a team, each role has a path, and the compliance board shows who is behind.
Where it is not the right pick: if you need a native app, adaptive daily microlearning or scheduling and POS integration, look at Axonify, Schoox or a workforce platform first. If the job is getting every new associate trained to your standard in week one and keeping required records current, start with the Course Studio above and build your first path from your onboarding checklist.
Why teams pick CompanyLMS
One platform for courses, onboarding, compliance and certifications
Phone-first for the sales floor
Associates open a course on their own phone between customers or before a shift, with no app to install and no login to the back-office computer.
Role paths from day one
Cashier, stockroom, department lead and keyholder each get a sequence, assigned automatically on the hire date instead of a stack of printed handouts.
Store-level visibility
Every store is a team, so a district manager can see which locations are behind on a required course without asking anyone.
Seats follow headcount
You buy learner seats and reassign one when someone leaves, so peak-season turnover does not leave you paying for dead accounts.
