Relias vs HealthStream Pricing: What Each Costs

Neither publishes a price. Both /pricing URLs return a 404, checked first-hand on 1 September 2026. Relias prices per learner by segment and content package, HealthStream by solution and module, and both bundle an accredited clinical library into the number. Here is what moves each quote, plus the four platforms a healthcare buyer can price today without a sales call.

Last updated September 2026. Both vendor sites were checked first-hand on 1 September 2026, not taken from listing sites.

Neither Relias nor HealthStream publishes a price. Both /pricing URLs return a 404, so there is no rate card, no plan comparison and no per-seat figure to benchmark a quote against. Relias prices per learner by segment and content package. HealthStream prices by solution and module. In both cases you are buying an accredited clinical content library with a platform attached, which is why the number is assembled for you rather than posted. If you need a figure you can put in a budget before a sales call, you have to look at the general-purpose platforms instead, where five vendors publish rates.

That is an uncomfortable answer, so here is what you can actually establish about each one, what moves the number, and what a healthcare organization can price today without waiting on a proposal.

How much does Relias cost?

Relias does not say. There is no pricing page on relias.com, and requests for /pricing return a 404. What the site does tell you is how the product is packaged, and that is the part that determines your quote.

Relias sells across seven named segments: hospitals and health systems, post-acute and long-term care, behavioral and community health, home health and home care, government organizations, ambulatory care, and physician practices. It also sells to individual clinicians directly. The learning side covers continuing education for license requirements, clinician-built clinical development, professional development, and a wound care certification review program. Around that sit competency management, an obstetrics solution, a nurse onboarding solution, validated assessments for job fit, and compliance software with mandatory training. Further out again are patient experience software, employee engagement, reputation management, recruitment advertising into its Nurse.com community and a nurse job board.

Two things follow for your budget. First, the price is driven by which content packages you take, not by platform features, because the platform is roughly the same whichever segment you are in. Second, that catalog is broad enough that a Relias proposal often arrives with products in it you did not ask for. Ask for a line-item quote and ask which lines are optional.

How much does HealthStream cost?

Also not published, and for the same structural reason. HealthStream has no pricing page and /pricing returns a 404. It sells by solution and by module, and the module list is the longest in the category.

On the learning side there is Learning Center, Learning Experience, Video Learning, reporting and analytics, and CE Management. Around it sit competency development for nurse residents, plus programs organized by care setting: child and maternal care, acute and emergency care, surgical and sedation care, and non-acute and ambulatory care. Then there is a whole second business in provider credentialing, including a CVO service for primary source verification, payer network and data management, provider portfolio and validate products, and rep credentialing for vendor representatives. Nurse and staff scheduling, quality and compliance, revenue cycle education and resuscitation training complete the picture.

A health system buying HealthStream is usually buying three or four of those at once, and that is exactly why there is no single rate to publish. It also means two HealthStream quotes for two similar hospitals can differ enormously without either being wrong.

Relias vs HealthStream: what is actually comparable

  Relias HealthStream
Published price None. /pricing returns 404 None. /pricing returns 404
Stated basis Per learner by segment and content package By solution and module
Strongest segment Post-acute, long-term care, behavioral health, home health, IDD and ABA Hospitals and health systems
Credentialing Not a core product Yes, including a CVO service and payer network data management
Scheduling No Yes, nurse and staff scheduling
Assessment products Validated assessments for job fit, competency management Competency development, resuscitation certification
Adjacent products in the catalog Patient experience, reputation management, recruitment advertising, nurse job board Revenue cycle education, provider portfolio, rep credentialing

The honest summary is that these two rarely lose to each other on price, because they rarely compete for the same buyer. A 40-bed skilled nursing operator and a 900-bed academic system will both be told they are looking at the market leader, and in their own segment both statements are close enough to true.

What you can price today without a sales call

If your compliance load is mandatory and repeatable rather than accredited and clinical, the published end of the market is available to you right now. These are the rates each vendor posts publicly, read first-hand.

Platform Published rate At 300 staff
CompanyLMS $7 per active learner a month on Business $25,200 a year, about $20,200 paid annually
iSpring Learn 4.25 EUR per active user a month at 300 15,312 EUR a year
TalentLMS $119 to $449 a month by user band ProFlex band, priced from the published card
MoodleCloud $1,220 a year on Medium, 500 user ceiling $1,220 a year, no HRIS integration possible

Third-party sources commonly report quote-only healthcare and enterprise learning contracts from around $25,000 a year, rising well into six figures for a multi-module health system deal. Treat that as directional context, not as a Relias or HealthStream figure. Neither vendor has stated one.

Why the bundled quote is the part to interrogate

In a bundled healthcare contract, the platform and the content renew on different logic, and only one of them is usually discussed during the sale. The platform fee tends to be stable. The content fee is where the escalator lives, because course libraries are refreshed, re-accredited and repriced on their own cycle. A compliance officer who negotiated hard on the year-one number and never asked about year two is the standard way this goes wrong.

Ask for three numbers in writing before you sign: the platform line, the content line, and what each renews at in year two. If the vendor will only give you a single bundled figure, that itself is worth knowing, and it usually means you will be pulling the line items out of the PDF invoice yourself twelve months later when finance asks what changed.

The second question to force is the billing unit. Licensed user, active learner, monthly active user and yearly active user are four different counts of the same workforce, and in healthcare the gap is wider than in almost any other industry because of per diem staff, travelers, students, volunteers and contractors. A 300-person home health agency with 120 per diem workers pays for 300 seats on a licensed-user contract and closer to 190 on an active-learner contract, from the same roster on the same day.

Do you actually need a clinical content library?

This is the question that decides the size of the cheque, and it deserves a straight answer rather than a shortlist. You need a specialist when accredited continuing education, nurse residency, clinical competency validation or credentialing sit inside the requirement. Those are content and workflow problems, and no general platform solves them.

You probably do not need one when your obligations are HIPAA, bloodborne pathogens, infection control, workplace violence, hazard communication, fire and emergency and annual policy attestation, all of which are mandatory, repeatable and non-accredited. A medical device manufacturer, a billing or revenue cycle company, a payer, a dental group or a health tech vendor is usually in that second category, paying specialist prices for a nursing curriculum nobody will take.

There is also a middle path that works more often than vendors mention: license the clinical content from a specialist as SCORM packages and host everything on a general platform, so you get accredited education plus one record of every mandatory training on a rate you can see. Ask early whether the specialist will sell content that way, because the answer varies by vendor and by title.

What to do next

Decide the shape before you take the meetings. If clinical content is genuinely in scope, go to Relias for post-acute, behavioral health and home health, and HealthStream for hospital and health system scale, and accept that you will be negotiating without a public benchmark. If it is not, get quotes from the published end of the market and hold the specialists to those numbers as a reference point.

Our full healthcare LMS comparison sets twelve platforms side by side on price, billing unit, HIPAA position and record retention, including the finding that one general vendor rules out healthcare buyers in its own FAQ. If your obligation list is what you are trying to price, what healthcare compliance training software costs models three headcounts, and HIPAA training software covers the training requirement itself. For the wider market view, enterprise LMS pricing shows how the billing unit alone produces a five-fold spread on identical headcount.
