Reach 360 Pricing and Articulate Reach Cost

Reach 360 Starter is included with Articulate 360 AI Teams for 300 active learners a year, and Reach 360 Pro starts at $3,600 a year for 1,200. Articulate counts a learner again in every 30-day period they train, so here is what those numbers buy and when a separate LMS costs less.

Reach 360 comes in two plans. Starter is included in every Articulate 360 AI Teams subscription ($1,749 per author seat a year) with room for 300 active learners per year. Reach 360 Pro is priced on active learners and starts at $3,600 a year for 1,200. The catch is the unit: Articulate counts a learner once in every 30-day period they train, so 300 a year is about 25 people training every month.

This is written for the L&D or HR lead at a US company who already builds in Storyline or Rise and is deciding whether to publish into Reach, upgrade to Pro, or run training in a separate LMS. Every Reach figure below comes from Articulate's own pricing page and its Reach 360 support FAQ. The comparison figures for CompanyLMS come from our own published plans.

How much does Reach 360 cost?

Reach 360 Starter costs nothing extra if you hold an Articulate 360 AI Teams subscription, and Reach 360 Pro starts at $3,600 a year for 1,200 active learners. Articulate does not publish the bands above 1,200; those are sized by sales. Starter is not sold on its own, so the real entry price for Reach is one Teams seat.

Plan Price Active learners a year Roughly equals

Articulate 360 Personal ($1,449 a year) is the individual plan, and Articulate ties Reach to Teams subscriptions. Frontline, the cheaper product that starts at $500 a year, shares training through trackable links and does not include Reach. How are active learners counted in Reach 360?

Articulate's support FAQ defines it precisely: each unique learner with training activity in a 30-day period after your annual term starts counts as an active learner. A learner becomes active when they begin the first lesson of a course or take a microlearning. Opening a course summary does not count, and finishing is not required.

The part most buyers miss is that the same person can count many times. Articulate's own example: if 100 employees start courses in the first 30 days and 50 of them resume in the next 30-day period, that uses 50 more active learners. Another of its examples: with 1,200 active learners a year, if 100 employees begin courses in the first 30 days, 1,100 remain for the rest of the plan year. Articulate describes the allowance as learner credits drawn from a bank that refreshes each year, and unused credits do not roll over.

So read "300 active learners per year" as 300 learner-months, not 300 people. A 40-person company that runs a monthly safety refresher uses 480 a year and has already outgrown Starter.

What 1,200 active learners really buys

At the entry band, Reach 360 Pro works out to $3,600 divided by 1,200, which is $3 per active learner per 30-day period. That is the same unit most per-active-learner LMS vendors use, which makes Reach easy to compare once you convert it. CompanyLMS bills per active learner per month too: $3 on Team billed annually (25-learner minimum) and $6 on Business billed annually (10-learner minimum).

Team Learner-months a year Articulate 360 AI Teams plus Reach CompanyLMS, billed annually
1 author, 300 staff, one annual course eachAbout 300$1,749 (Starter covers it)Billed only in the months people train; monthly billing is $7 on Business
1 author, 50 staff every month600$5,349 ($1,749 plus Pro from $3,600)$1,800 on Team, $3,600 on Business
2 authors, 100 staff every month1,200$7,098 ($3,498 plus Pro from $3,600)$3,600 on Team, $7,200 on Business

These are our calculations on published rates, not quotes. The pattern is clear enough to act on. When training is a once-a-year event for a few hundred people, Articulate plus the bundled Starter is hard to beat, because you are already paying for the seat. When training is continuous (onboarding every month, quarterly compliance, monthly refreshers), the learner-month count climbs fast, and the author seats sit on top of it. CompanyLMS does not bill admins who build and assign courses, so there is no seat on top.

Is Reach 360 a full LMS?

Reach is a deliberately light LMS for distributing Articulate content. Its product page lists learner registration by SSO, QR code, link or bulk CSV, reminders by email, Slack or Microsoft Teams, a progress dashboard with CSV export, branded learner portals, multi-language course delivery and automation through Slack, Teams, Zapier or custom API integrations.

What the page does not describe is the machinery of required training: certificates that expire on a schedule, automatic recertification, role-based onboarding paths that assign themselves when someone joins, or a skills matrix. If those are why you are buying an LMS, ask Articulate to show each one in the trial and to put it in the order form. That is the work CompanyLMS Business is built around: set a renewal interval and every record moves from current to due to overdue on its own, with reminders going out before the date.

Can Reach 360 host SCORM courses from other tools?

Yes. Articulate's FAQ says third-party training must be exported in SCORM 2004 or SCORM 1.2 format, while Rise 360 and Storyline 360 content publishes natively. xAPI and cmi5 are export options from the authoring apps, but the Reach FAQ names only the two SCORM versions for outside content. If part of your library came from another authoring tool, test a package before you commit. The same test applies to any platform; our guide on uploading a SCORM file to an LMS covers what to check.

Reach 360 Pro or a separate LMS

Stay on Reach if nearly everything you deliver is built in Storyline or Rise, your authors already hold Teams seats, and your learner-month count fits the band you can afford. The integration is the real advantage: publishing from the authoring app to Reach takes one step, and nobody manages package versions.

Move the delivery side to a separate LMS if any of these apply:

  • Most of your training is policy, SOP and compliance material that does not need Storyline at all.
  • You need certificate expiry, recertification and a compliance report an auditor will accept.
  • People who are not designers need to build and assign courses without buying a $1,749 seat each.
  • Your learner-month count is climbing into bands Articulate will only quote.

A common setup is to keep one or two Teams seats for showcase courses, export them as SCORM, and run onboarding and compliance in an LMS that includes its own course builder. The authoring seats stay useful and the learner count stops being a meter. Before the renewal call, put the Reach Pro quote through your normal procurement approval workflow so the band, the term and what happens past the allowance are signed off in writing rather than discovered mid-year.

Questions to ask Articulate before you sign

  • What happens when we use the last active learner in our band before the term ends: blocked access, an automatic overage charge, or a forced upgrade?
  • What is the next band above 1,200, and what does it cost per active learner?
  • Which reporting, content management and user management features are Pro only?
  • Does a learner who resumes the same course in a second 30-day period count twice? (Articulate's FAQ says yes; confirm it for your contract.)
  • Does multi-year pricing lock the Reach band as well as the seats?

If the answers point toward a separate LMS, compare the per-learner rate you just calculated with CompanyLMS pricing: $3 per active learner a month on Team or $6 on Business, billed annually, with the course builder, onboarding paths, certificate tracking and reports included and no author seats. You can build and assign a real course in the demo near the top of this page before you pay anything.
