EasyLlama vs Emtrain Pricing per Learner for Compliance Training

Emtrain starts at $50 per learner a year with a 100-user minimum; EasyLlama Core is $59.95 per user from 10 users. Here is what each costs at 25 to 1,000 learners, and why SCORM delivery, phishing and the minimum change the answer.

Two coworkers comparing training software options on one laptop

Emtrain is cheaper per learner for a full compliance library: Basic starts at $50 per learner a year against $59.95 per user for EasyLlama Core, and a 3-year Emtrain agreement takes another 10% off. EasyLlama is cheaper for small teams, because Emtrain has a 100-user minimum ($5,000 a year) while EasyLlama starts at 10 users ($599.50). The two also bundle different extras. EasyLlama puts phishing simulations and an anonymous reporting tool into Core. Emtrain puts SCORM delivery into your own LMS and in-course employee sentiment surveys into every package.

What EasyLlama and Emtrain cost at 25 to 1,000 learners

Here is one year of each, multiplied off the two cards. Emtrain's figures in brackets are the 3-year agreement rate, which Emtrain prices at 10% less per year. Emtrain's calculator covers up to 500 learners; above that it quotes.

LearnersEasyLlama Core ($59.95)Emtrain Basic ($50)EasyLlama Ultimate ($89.95)Emtrain Premium ($75)
25$1,499$5,000 (100-user minimum)$2,249$7,500 (100-user minimum)
100$5,995$5,000 ($4,500)$8,995$7,500 ($6,750)

From 100 learners up, Emtrain Basic is about 17% cheaper than EasyLlama Core on a one-year term and 25% cheaper on three years. Below 100 the minimum flips it: a 25-person company pays Emtrain for 100 seats, which is more than three times the EasyLlama Core bill. A team that small also has a cheaper EasyLlama option, Pay Per Course at $24.95 per course, or $623.75 a year for one course each.

Is Emtrain cheaper than EasyLlama?

Yes, per learner, once you have 100 or more people to train. Emtrain Basic is $50 against $59.95 for EasyLlama Core, Standard at $60 lands almost exactly on Core, and Premium at $75 undercuts EasyLlama Ultimate at $89.95 by about $15 per learner. A 3-year Emtrain agreement widens the gap further.

The answer changes when you price what is bundled. If you would otherwise buy a phishing simulator and an anonymous reporting line, EasyLlama Core includes both, and that is often worth more than the $10 per learner difference. If you run Workday, Cornerstone or another enterprise LMS and want the courses inside it, Emtrain includes SCORM delivery in every package, while EasyLlama sells course packaging as a separate SCORM plan by quote. Work out which of those three you need before you compare totals.

Which one is cheaper if we already have an LMS?

Usually Emtrain. Its FAQ says every package includes "SCORM or hosted LMS delivery" in SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004, and that companies on their own LMS can also license individual SCORM courses instead of the whole library. Emtrain is a Workday Innovation Partner and connects to Workday Learning through Cloud Connect for Learning, syncing the catalog and reporting completions back, and it can be bought through AWS Marketplace against committed AWS spend.

EasyLlama is built to run in its own LMS. Its separate SCORM plan packages courses as SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 or xAPI files for your system, with compatibility testing, but it is priced by quote, so the $59.95 card rate does not tell you the cost of that route. Importing your own SCORM files into EasyLlama is the other direction, and that sits on Ultimate.

What does each top tier add, and is it worth it?

EasyLlama Ultimate ($89.95, or $30 over Core) is about building your own courses: an AI course authoring tool that drafts a course from a prompt or a PDF, AI editing, image and narration tools, and unlimited SCORM uploads with completion and score tracking.

Emtrain Premium ($75, or $25 over Basic) adds AuthorAI for creating and publishing custom training, plus the analytics Emtrain is known for: risk benchmarks by industry and company size, responses tracked over time, heatmaps by learner attribute and demographic, executive reporting and consultation with Emtrain's legal team.

Both charge the authoring feature across every learner, even though only a few admins use it. At 250 learners that is $7,500 a year extra on EasyLlama and $6,250 on Emtrain. If your real goal is turning your handbook, safety procedures and onboarding into tracked courses, a platform priced for that job costs less: CompanyLMS builds courses from a PDF, video or template on every plan, from $4 per active learner a month, and you can keep either vendor's legal library for the state-mandated courses.

What each price leaves out

EasyLlama. White-labeling, custom course development and a custom SLA sit in a Customization Services package priced by quote, and its pricing FAQ lists SSO/SAML and API access there too (Google and Microsoft sign-in is on every plan). There is no free trial; EasyLlama offers demos. Dedicated onboarding starts at 100 seats and a dedicated customer success manager at 50, both on Core and Ultimate only.

Emtrain. Everything above 500 learners is a custom quote. The pricing page shows a "Request Quote" button on all three packages rather than a card checkout, so expect a sales conversation even inside the calculator range. Emtrain's Centerstage video library is also sold on its own at $199 a month for teams that only want the scenario videos for instructor-led sessions.

One more thing to check on either side: the term. Emtrain's 10% discount comes with a 3-year agreement, so put the renewal date and the notice window into whatever contract management software your legal or finance team uses, before the auto-renewal decides for you.

Which one fits your company

Choose EasyLlama if you have fewer than 100 employees, want phishing simulations and an anonymous reporting tool in the same subscription, and plan to run training inside EasyLlama's own LMS. It is the only one of the two a 20-person company can buy without paying for 80 empty seats.

Choose Emtrain if you have 100 to 500 employees, run Workday or another enterprise LMS, and care about culture and sentiment data as much as completion records. It is cheaper per learner at that size, and SCORM delivery is in the price.

Choose neither, or add a platform, if most of your training is your own material. Both vendors sell a legal course library first. Your onboarding paths, SOPs, equipment sign-offs and certification renewals need a platform built around your content. See compliance training software pricing for what a full program costs at 100, 500 and 5,000 employees, and our Traliant pricing page for the third published rate card in this market.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Emtrain cost?

Emtrain starts at $50 per learner a year on Basic, $60 on Standard and $75 on Premium, with a 100-user minimum, so the smallest bill is $5,000 a year. A 3-year agreement is 10% cheaper per year, and organizations above 500 learners get custom enterprise pricing.

How much does EasyLlama cost?

EasyLlama charges $24.95 per course assignment on Pay Per Course, $59.95 per user a year on Core and $89.95 on Ultimate. Every plan has a 10-unit minimum sold in steps of five, so the smallest bills are $249.50, $599.50 and $899.50 a year.

Does Emtrain have a minimum number of users?

Yes. Each Emtrain package has a 100-user minimum on its pricing calculator. A company with 40 employees pays the 100-user price, which is $5,000 a year on Basic, so smaller teams usually find EasyLlama or a per-course option cheaper.

Can Emtrain courses run in Workday?

Yes. Emtrain integrates with Workday Learning through Cloud Connect for Learning, syncing its course catalog, reporting completions back to Workday and mapping content to Workday Skills Cloud. Companies can also buy Emtrain through AWS Marketplace while deploying it in Workday.
